Tips From A Cruise Ship Insider – I AM CREW

Welcome to my NEW Playlist and this week’s video “My Favorite Photos – Alaska”.

Next month cruise ships start going to Alaska and I am a cruise ship insider… I am CREW. As crew I have a unique perspective on exploring the ports, the excursions, where to go, what to see. For the past 12 years I have been crew on various cruise ships around the world traveling with my camera and notebook in hand. For 8 of those years during the summer I have been on cruise ships in Alaska. This summer I am going back for my 9^th summer on the Koningsdam. If you happen to be going on the Koningsdam stop by and say hello, I am the Acupuncture Physician.

I’ve have started this new playlist with the still photographer in mind but it is not just for photographers, it is for everyone. My thoughts are to show images of places that you my viewers might be considering exploring for yourselves or on a certain subject matter might hold interest for you.

For the photographer it will give them an idea of what types of images they may be able to capture for themselves. My hopes are that this will be valuable to photographers and videographers both amateur and professional. I will not only show my favorite images but also discuss the images and give some insight on how and where you will be able to capture photographs like these yourself.

I started my career in photography as a professional photojournalist in 1979 at the time working with several newspapers and magazines in Southern California. What I loved most about photojournalism was its diversity and over my career I covered professional sports, concerts and travel. As life would have it mine took yet another turn and in 1988 I developed an interest in holistic medicine. I became a professional massage therapist specializing in sports medicine. In 1991 I decided to go to medical school and obtained a medical degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine and stared my career as a licensed acupuncture physician. After medical school I moved my practice to northern Idaho for a year before settling in the resort area of Sun Valley, Idaho. I’ve always been an outdoor person and hiking and backpacking the Rockies and fishing the pristine river waters and high altitude lakes offered me a wonderful photographic opportunity. In 2010 I left Sun Valley and I once again found myself on a cruise ship, this time working as an “Acupuncturist at Sea”. For the past seven years I have traveled to 85 countries, which has allowed me to photograph much of the world. View all posts by larry pannell
